International Relations

KAJL is an international academic hub

Throughout the years, KAJL has become an international academic hub joining academics and students from many countries. It has also developed rich international relations with many educational institutions around the world.

Currently, the Department has an international team of highly qualified university lecturers (professors, associate professors and assistant professors) from Slovakia, the Republic of Ireland, Great Britain, Hungary, Poland and Belarus. Originating in their own country and alma mater, each of them brings to us distinctive knowledge, experiences and perspectives, which then influence and enrich each other, creating a stimulating and enriching academic environment for colleagues and students alike.

Similarly, our students form a diverse and dynamic international community. In the academic year 2022/23 we have students from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Ukraine, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Egypt.

International opportunities for our students

Being a student of English as a foreign language, international activities will form a very important aspect of your study.

You may choose from the following opportunities:

  • Go study abroad for up to a year through Erasmus mobilities as part of your study programme without adding an extra year or semester (Trnava University currently has more than 100 partners across the world). There are no additional tuition fees and you get support and recognition for your time abroad through the programme.
  • Apply for a national stipend through a chosen SAIA scheme. SAIA regularly publishes new offers and calls for applications. All costs are covered by a stipend.
  • Attend short-term international events such as summer schools, workshops, conferences, etc. To learn more, follow the department’s FB or consult with your study tutor.
  • Attend our study trips to Anglophone countries (for more details, visit here).
  • Become a buddy. A buddy is a Trnava University student who helps an international student before, during and after their mobility. If interested, find out more here.

Benefits of spending part of your study abroad

  • visiting new and interesting places
  • deepening your language knowledge
  • expanding your intercultural awareness
  • gaining skills and experiences that will enhance your CV
  • broadening your further study and work perspectives
  • building an international network of classmates and future colleagues
